I'm so used to the Flames near SJSU during college days & I haven't been in one since...which is a while ago but when I came here during lunch near work & I knew I couldn't get a mad meal here. I can't remember exactly but got a sandwich with a creamy pesto with a side of fries & it was all deliciously filling. Staff was attentive & friendly. The diner setup is relaxing & it's spacious.
Go to place after Turkey Trot. Food is delicious and staff are courteous....................................
We have been eating at Flames for decades and the food quality is always very good and consistent. Anyone who would complain about the food would likely complain about the food at McDonalds! If you want Michelin rated restaurants, go there. If you want very good and consistent quality, with large portions at a reasonable price, Flames is 5 star. Lastly, the staff is very good, friendly and totally accommodating. In fact, the staff is so good, I always over tip! Go to Lazy Dog or Applebee's and compare the sincerity and attentiveness of the wait staff. You feel at home at Flames, not so at the big chain restaurants. Also, appreciate the fact that they are still in business, with all the competition that has moved in.
Had lunch with a coworker here today as we were in the area making sales calls and he'd never been to a Flames- my lunch soup of the day ( navy bean w/ smoked ham) and 1/2 BLT sandwich was delicious! He had low carb plate as he's on diet and he was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste- our service was excellent and all in all a great meal

Hey there Party People Some times you just want a good old fashion diner experience...pull yourself up to the counter have that black cup of coffee and just soak up the atmosphere. Flames is that diner The food is always big and tasty weather you are going for that stick to your ribs breakfast or a ginormous salad or sandwich. My hubby and I went for breakfast omelets this time and it was great We just couldn't pass up the Garlic Bread with feta cheese as well as the Potato Skins. Next time we are definitely going to do the lunch side of the menu
I had not been to the flames in about 20 years, but it was just as good as I remembered, and had not changed much. Big cakes in the display, extensive menu, friendly service, and the food was good. The decor is great and I'll go back sooner!
